Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Quillo (“we”, “our”, “the app”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Quillo mobile application.
By using Quillo you agree to the practices described here. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to make Quillo work:
- Account information. When you sign in, we receive a unique user identifier from your sign-in provider (Apple, Google, or email/password). If you sign in with email, we store your email address. If you sign in with Apple, we receive a private Apple-relayed identifier.
- Stories you create. The prompts you enter, the story text generated for you, the cover image, the audio narration, and metadata (length, type, creation time) are stored on our servers so you can listen to them later.
- Usage data. We collect anonymized event data about how you use the app — which screens you visit, which features you use, and how long sessions last. This is used to improve Quillo.
- Crash and performance data. When the app crashes or performs poorly we receive a diagnostic report (stack trace, device model, OS version) so we can fix the issue.
- Subscription status. When you purchase a subscription or top-up, we receive confirmation of that purchase from Apple via RevenueCat. We do not receive your payment card details.
We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, microphone, camera, or any other device data.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
How we use your data
- To deliver the core app experience (your stories, your library, your subscription).
- To improve the app (analytics, crash reports).
- To provide customer support if you contact us.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Third-party services we use
Quillo runs on the following services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage. https://supabase.com/privacy
- OpenAI — generates story text and cover images from your prompt. Prompts are processed under OpenAI’s API terms (no training on API data). https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
- Cartesia — generates audio narration from your story text. https://cartesia.ai/legal/privacy-policy
- RevenueCat — manages your subscription and top-up purchases. https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics, hosted in the European Union. https://posthog.com/privacy
- Sentry — crash and performance diagnostics. https://sentry.io/privacy/
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store payments. https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Stories on the public Discover feed
Stories you create are visible on Quillo’s public Discover feed by default. Other Quillo users can listen to and “heart” your stories. Your account identifier is not publicly displayed alongside the story.
If you delete your account, your stories are removed from Discover immediately and permanently deleted within 30 days.
How long we keep your data
- Active accounts: for as long as your account exists.
- Deleted accounts: soft-deleted immediately (you cannot sign back in), and fully purged within 30 days.
- Anonymized usage data: retained indefinitely in aggregated form.
- Diagnostic data: retained for 90 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your Quillo account at any time from Settings → Delete account. This:
- Immediately disables your account so it cannot be signed into.
- Removes your stories from the public Discover feed.
- Revokes your Sign in with Apple credentials, if you used Apple to sign in.
- Permanently deletes your account, stories, audio, images, and all associated data within 30 days.
App Store subscriptions are managed by Apple and are not automatically cancelled when you delete your Quillo account. Cancel separately in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (you can do this yourself in-app — see above).
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at cbettridge92@gmail.com.
Children
Quillo is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated in-app.
